Day 3 - Lantau Peak and Kowloon
We didn't have much time before we had to leave so we decided to take a quick hike to Lantau Peak and the Wisdom pillars. In the end we couldn't ascend it for lack of time.

We set out for Lantau Peak.

Along the Lantau Peak trail.

The Wisdom Pillars. Some guy wrote lots of wise sayings on them. But in Chinese la, I didn't really take the time to read.

That's Lantau Peak behind me shrouded in cloud.

Last shot from my hostel on Lantau Island before I left. That's part of Lantau Peak, mainly obscured by lots of clouds with the Sun peeking out from behind.

Goodbye not-so-hygienic hostel!

After this we took the bus out to Tung Chung City, followed by an MTR ride into Kowloon to check into our hostel. Now its time for food and shopping :)

Building at Tung Chung City, as we were getting ready to leave Lantau Island and head for Kowloon. The buildings here are so scarily high. And this one is supported by only some pillars. Eeks!

My first taste of Hongkong's xiao3 chi1. I love tako mah, so I chose to try this while Shin chose to eat some chocolate dan4 zai3. I came to love that too. Anyway, these tentacles were dripping with oil and were real exercise for my jaw muscles. Chewy.

Billboards along the road. I wish we had some too. Make things seem more lively and colourful.

The Peninsula. A very famous, high-end hotel along Salisbury road which reminds me a little of the Fullerton. Note: A lot of the Hongkong museums are located opposite this hotel, and admission is free on Wednesday. Heh.

The view across Victoria Harbour at night from the Tsim Sha Tsui side was actually very nice but my camera couldn't capture its splendour so no pictures ^^

On the peak tram shuttle from the Star Ferry terminal at Central. Bus 15C. In the background you see the HSBC and Stanchart buildings. Not hard to guess which is which from the colours right?

We got off the open air peak tram shuttle bus by a building that didn't look like it housed the peak tram. It was just another building in a sea of many others in the business district.

Arrival of the Peak Tram. You would expect that I would have taken lots of shots from the top of Victoria Peak but it was totally pointless due to the thick smog and fog.

View from the Star Ferry as it crossed the harbour from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui on the way back. The Star Ferry seats all have stars on them!
