Taiwan
Finally here in Taiwan. Its been an arduous journey! My flight was at 0435 so I was hanging around in the hotel to wait for the airport shuttle. Made friends with the night shift bellman, James. I conclude that all the bellmen are the same pattern...cheeky fellas! It was fun talking to him. I was trying to convince the other girls that the US is not like what they see in Alaska and they shouldn't judge it based on that. James agreed with me. He even offered to give me a ride to the airport cos the airport shuttle was one hour late and since it was the last one we thought it was never coming.
At the airport I also met some SIA pilots. Wah I was so happy to see them! Felt a tinge of pride but also sad cos SIA doesn't have passenger flights to Anchorage. The pilots asked me to hang out with them for a couple of days! Man if I'd known that would happen I would have started hanging out at the airport earlier hahaha. They were staying in the Hilton some more.
Well, my Alaskan summer is over! Back to hot, humid and smoggy Asia. What I like about the US is that they have so much open space and respect for the environment. In the US National Parks, the authorities would rather deny tourists some activities in order to protect the wildlife, but in Asia it seems like money-making is the priority. Also too many people in too small a space. Maybe I'm biased, but the grass is always greener on the other side :p
Some last pictures with the people at Westmark:
Carlos, my "爱人" (not)
Nita, married to an American.
Marc in the Captain Cook uniform - so smart!
Wilson in the Captain Cook uniform too.
Pavel the Russian. His girlfriend had just broken up with him cos she found a new guy but he didn't seem very upset :p
Michelle the laundry lady - she's cool! She's also the only one who likes the hotel lunches :p
