Gathering at my Place - Sunday August 21st

Hello one and all. I hardly blog nowadays. Having a two hour break in school and decided I shall give another lesson in Cake Making 101. Carrot cake to be specific, however this particular carrot cake doesn't really taste of carrots :p I had carrot cake (the Western kind) for the first time while in the US and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't really taste of carrots. Therefore I decided to make one for the UCSD singaporeans who were coming to my house for dinner. Yippee! We had dinner and watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Who wants recipe?

Take this...

...and smear all over with this (Final result at the bottom of the post)

Lazy bunch of people nuah-ing around and waiting to be served.

All of us: Carine, Shan Shan, Zhenying, KC, Kenny, me.

The final product. Dessert is served.

Malaysia - Trip to Malacca

Just got back from a short trip to Malaysia with my family. Didn't do much, mainly ate and slept. (What can you really do with your parents anyway? :p) School's starting this week! Should be seeing many familiar faces that I haven't seen in a long time, not since last year. Hope this will be a good year :)

Orangey sky as I stood across the road from the hawker center.

Silhouette of a palm tree.

My dinner - Chicken porridge with sesame oil, fried shallots, pepper and slices of you tiao on top.

Shop selling you tiao or dough fritters. Check out the gigantic wok of oil...

Parting shot of the place. We're not the only ones who have a Newton hawker centre!

How to pronounce?

Trishaw waiting for potential passengers at the hotel entrance. Takes you for a tour around the nearby places.

Back to Singapore - this here is the second link which leads to Tuas.

Sunsets from Home, Singapore

Started to pick up my old habit of taking pictures of the sunset from my HDB flat.

Sunset, with a twinkly speck in the sky. Star, or moon?

HCJC Class Gathering at Shichi's

Friday 29th July - My jc classmate Shichi was holding her 21st birthday party at her place, which incidentally served a dual purpose as a class gathering. Its been a long time since I saw them. Some were overseas, some couldn't make it, but it was still nice to see those who did manage to come. Here's to my class, 01S72 of HCJC. Heh.

With one of my best pals from Hwa Chong, Wanqing :)

Singapore - Meeting with the UCSD People

Sunday 24th July - Met the UCSD people at Cafe Cartel today! It was nice to see them after a few months of separation. Apart from the regular students and the past exchange students (Carine and I), the new regular and exchange students came along too. It was a strange feeling to see these people who were going overseas in our place. I wished I was going too haha. But no such luck. UCSD people, please send me some pictures of UCSD and what it looks like in fall please!

Ah girl and me.

Kor/Fong Ming and girlfriend, Jasmine.

Deep in thought, the current and future UCSD people talk about academics.

UCSD peeps! Left to right: Sangyu, Xinyi, (I forget), me, Carine, Alanna, Tanya, (I forget), Fong Ming and Jasmine (Duke).

Japan - Day 22 - Hanabi at Sakuragicho, Yokohama

On my last day in Japan, I decided to go to Yokohama to watch their annually held fireworks. Held continuously for an hour, it was supposed to be a fantastic spectacle. What was more, I had bought my very own yukata to wear! Hehe. It was really cheap by Japanese standards, 3000yen and it was from Uniqlo. I thought it would be a cool souvenir to bring back from Japan. That afternoon, I went to Chihiro's house and she helped me to put on the yukata. Gosh it was so difficult. I could see she was putting in a lot of effort to help me wear the thing. And she helped me do my hair too. So thanks a lot Chihiro!

I asked Tomoko along too since it was gonna be my last chance to see her. And my kor kor came along too. Some of the fireworks were really pretty. There were cute ones that exploded into a heart shape and others that I just can't remember now. Also, the crowds at Sakuragicho were humongous! The train station was swamped once the fireworks were over. Roads were closed and you could see masses of people walking on them. I really understood why many of the friends I asked chose to stay home instead of coming for the fireworks then :P It was a good experience in all though hehe.

The sky at Sakuragi-cho before the hanabi started.

A weird picture of the fireworks. I was too far away to get any really good shots.

With my brother, Tomoko, Chihiro and her bunch of friends. I can't remember any of their names now.

Back home after a very tiring day. I brought my yukata home with me. Its lying safely in my cupboard now.
